The short answer

Dangerous goods shipped by sea, air or road must be packed in UN-certified packaging that has passed performance tests such as drop, stacking and leakproofness. In India, the Indian Institute of Packaging tests and certifies packaging to UN recommendations and issues UN marking codes that manufacturers print on containers, as required by IMDG, IATA and other transport rules.
