Why This Matters

One Portal, Every Government Department's Surplus

eAuction.gov.in is the National Informatics Centre's (NIC) Government eAuction System — a single platform used by central ministries, PSUs, banks, mining departments, customs, and state governments to auction everything from scrap and vehicles to attached SARFAESI properties. Unlike single-department portals, one bidder registration here can unlock auctions across dozens of unrelated government sellers.

Step by Step

eAuction.gov.in Registration Process

1Bidder Enrollment
Go to eauction.gov.in and click "Bidder Enrollment." Register as Individual or Company, choose a unique username, and set a password. Registration on the portal itself is free.
2Email, Mobile & OTP Verification
Register a valid email and mobile number — all auction communication, corrigendums, and result notices are sent here. Both are verified with OTP before the profile is activated.
3Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
Register a Class 3 DSC (signing certificate) from a CCA India-recognised Certifying Authority — Sify, nCode, eMudhra, or similar. Only one valid DSC per bidder; never share it, as misuse is the bidder's liability.
  • DSC must be mapped to the same PAN as your bidder profile
  • Renewal reminders should sit on a compliance calendar, not memory
4KYC, PAN & MSME/Startup Details
Upload PAN, company constitution proof, and bank account details for EMD refunds. If applicable, add your Udyam (MSME) or Startup India registration — several departments offer fee or EMD relaxations to registered MSMEs.
5Select Department & Auction Category
After login, select the Client/Department and the specific auction discipline (scrap, vehicles, movable/immovable assets, mines, etc.) from the dropdown to see live and upcoming auctions relevant to your business.
6eService Fee, EMD & Bidding
Pay the eService fee (commonly around ₹1,000, department-dependent) via the payment gateway. For EMD paid by RTGS/NEFT, generate the challan in advance and remit funds at least T+1 working day before the auction closes — late EMD credit locks you out of bidding.

The Opportunity

Why This Portal Is Bigger Than It Looks

One Login, Dozens of Sellers

A single bidder profile gives access to auctions run by different ministries, PSUs, banks and state departments — far wider reach than a single-department portal like GeM or a railway-only system.

Diverse Asset Categories

Beyond scrap, the platform regularly lists vehicles, machinery, mining leases, and bank-attached (SARFAESI) immovable properties — each category rewards a different kind of specialist trader.

MSME & Startup India Relaxations

Bidders with Udyam or Startup India registration can access fee and EMD concessions on eligible auctions — a direct cost edge over unregistered competitors bidding the same lot.

Play To Win

Tactics to Ease Registration & Bidding

1
Register Udyam/Startup India before eAuction

Sequence it first — several departments only apply fee/EMD relaxations if this is linked at profile creation, not added later.

2
Match your DSC PAN exactly

A DSC issued on a mismatched PAN or entity name is the most common reason enrollment gets rejected or bids get blocked mid-auction.

3
Generate the EMD challan a day early

NEFT/RTGS credit needs T+1 working day. Generate and pay the challan the evening before, never the morning of auction close.

4
Track more than one department

Bidding across 2-3 departments/categories (scrap + vehicles + mines, for example) smooths out competition spikes on any single lot type.

5
Read the corrigendum before every bid

Departments frequently amend reserve price, EMD or timelines via corrigendum — bidding on the original notice alone is a common, avoidable loss.
