For company registration you need each director's and shareholder's PAN, Aadhaar or other ID, address proof, photograph, email and mobile, and a digital signature; plus registered office proof (a utility bill not older than two months) and the owner's NOC. Foreign nationals need a passport and apostilled or notarised address proof.
Documents from Indian directors and shareholders
- PAN card, which is mandatory and must match the name in all other documents.
- Aadhaar, voter ID, passport or driving licence as identity and address proof.
- Residential address proof such as a bank statement, electricity, telephone or mobile bill, generally not older than two months.
- Passport-size photograph, and personal email and mobile number for OTP verification.
- Digital Signature Certificate for signing the forms.
Documents from foreign nationals and NRIs
Foreign directors and shareholders submit a passport as mandatory identity proof and an address proof such as a bank statement, driving licence or residence card. Documents executed abroad must be notarised and apostilled in Hague Convention countries, or consularised by the Indian embassy in other countries. If the documents are in a foreign language, a certified translation is needed.

Frequently asked questions
Is Aadhaar mandatory for company registration?
PAN is mandatory for Indian directors, and Aadhaar is the most commonly used identity and address proof because it enables OTP-based verification. If Aadhaar is not available, a passport, voter ID or driving licence can generally be used as identity and address proof.
Can I use my home as the registered office?
Yes. A residential address is accepted as a registered office. Provide a recent utility bill for the property and a no-objection certificate from the owner. If you are a tenant, attach the rent agreement as well.
How old can the address proof documents be?
Utility bills and bank statements used as address proof should generally not be older than two months at the time of filing. Older documents are a frequent reason for resubmission requests from the Central Registration Centre.
Do shareholders who are not directors need DSC?
Yes. Every subscriber to the MoA signs the e-MoA and e-AoA, so each subscriber needs a digital signature, whether or not they become a director. A body corporate subscriber signs through its authorised representative.
What documents are needed if a company is a shareholder?
A corporate subscriber provides its certificate of incorporation, a board resolution authorising the investment and the representative, and the representative's ID and address proof. Foreign corporate subscribers also need apostilled or consularised copies.
