Frequently asked questions

What stamp paper value is needed for a partnership deed?

Stamp duty on partnership deeds is set by each state's stamp law and often depends on the capital contributed. Check your state's schedule or use e-stamping at the prescribed value.

Can a minor be a partner?

A minor cannot be a full partner but can be admitted to the benefits of partnership with the consent of all partners. The minor is not personally liable beyond their share in the firm.

Is a GST certificate required for registration?

No. GST registration is separate and needed only if the firm crosses the threshold or falls in a compulsory category.

Do all partners need to be present?

Requirements vary by state. Many states accept signed applications and online verification, while others ask partners to appear or submit notarised affidavits.
